Norton Owners Club New Zealand Rally 2011 email to someone | printer friendly
Dear Member/s,

As promised in the last Newsletter, & inspired by Jules Van Uden's recent excellent Southland Rally, I've finally got off my chuff and rounded up some very willing Waikato members - Iain Brown, Lex Nalder & Angus Black & Ian Rumble; so we can have a 'mini' rally or interim ride and get together at Pirongia Lodge in April.

The format will be similar to our main Annual Rally, but there will of course be no AGM required, and the annual trophy holders from Monowai will keep theirs until the next main Annual Rally.
However, we will still be awarding some prizes to deserving individuals (or their machines..), so there still will be the briefest of formalities.

We are also hoping to display the new Norton 961- if Barry receives it in time!!

A Saturday ride along some of the Waikato's finest back country roads will stretch the legs of your chosen mount, and include a number of points of interest - and some watering holes too of course.
We realise this rally is at very short notice, but before the onset of Winter, the venue was available, for this date only.

Please give a ride to Pirongia your most earnest consideration, and as the accom. block is limited to 40 beds only, you will need to get your entries back to John TL at the earliest opportunity.

Cheers, safe riding, & see you at Pirongia,
Mark McLennan

Saturday turned out better for the ride and an excellent lunch at O?Cains Bay. A report in greater detail will be in our next newsletter so if you don?t get one already then join the Club! Have a look at the following link for a video of the rally ride?

Recent news from Australia email to someone | printer friendly
The Norton Owners Club of NSW in conjunction with the Post Classic Racing Association of NSW are combining to revive the Period 4 Formula 750 class. The 750 class was the premier non-GP racing class of the early to mid 1970?s and is recognised as an official historic racing class by Motorcycling Australia.

The Norton Owners Club are looking to restore interest in this class by encouraging enthusiasts to get their 750?s back onto the track to reflect the racing grids and machines of the 1970?s. By sponsoring this class through the Period 4 ?Unapproachable F750 Challenge? at the Barry Sheene Festival of Speed race meeting, the Norton Owners Club hope that other period motorcycle clubs will be encouraged to come forward and support this class of racing.

For more information please see the NOCF750 Challenge pdf on the downloads page.
